IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Y'Shanjra Ra "Warrior of Light"
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn
OU/AU/OC: OC
Canon Point: Patch 2.2: Through the Maelstrom
History: Y'shanjra or Shan to her friends was a adventurer in the previous Astral Era. She was a part of a group of adventurers who were known well for their deeds in serving the people. During this time, she fell in love with one of her companions but was turned down. To this end, she lost focus during a battle and performed a attack which accidentally harmed her team. Disheartened, she left them just in time to get drafted into the Adventurer Parties that were preparing to fight at Carteneau. Carteneau was a battlefield at the center of Eorzea, where the armies of the three Grand Companies lead by the three City-States of Limsa Lominsa (a pirate-founded city area), Ul'dah (the land of merchants and gladiators) and the fighters of Gridania (the land of white mages and forest dwellers), against the Garlean Empire, who has been systematically attacking Eorzea in an attempt to conquer the lands.
Leading the Garleans from behind the scenes are the Ascians, a group of God Worshippers who follow the God of Death and seek to awaken the world back to it's primal-ridden state. They were responsible for lowering the second moon, and with Dalamund's descent, began to prepare the world for a slew of summonings that would destabilize the hold the god Hydalein would have on the world.
When the Primal Bahamut erupted out of the moon, she was caught in the attack and unlike the other Warriors of Light, was buried under rubble. A team of Five Warriors of Light, a Warrior, a Paladin, a Black Mage, a White Mage and Bard were sent to the future by the senior mage of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, the primary offensive push against the Primal Threat. Dragging herself home, she returned to her mountain tribe far across the seas where she stewed. Deciding she wasn't going to be a Dragoon anymore since it caused her nothing but pain, she put it aside and returned as a Pugilist after retraining her body. A Dragoon was a lance-wielding warrior, specifically created to fight dragons with an assortment of dives. A Pugilist however is a fist fighter, wielding weapons crafted of bone and leather to augment their striking capabilities.
Time passed, and Shan grew stronger, when she was dragged into a battle against the Primal Ifrit. Ifrit is the god of the Amaalji, a tribe of lizard men who worship him. With every worshipper, a primal grows stronger in nature. With her companions tempered (brainwashed), she fought it mono a mono and would not have survived without the timely assistance of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Shan swore a oath to them, and continued to work for the Scions while furthering her own ambitions. She began to learn multiple abilities, classes and disciplines, never mastering any of them but becoming a strong opponent in many of them. With the Scions temporarily routed by the Garleans in a pre-emptive strike to try and capture and study the power of the Echo, she helped move the bodies to the lichyard when she decided to aid them fully. During this time, she began to frequent Ul'dah a little more, until the time for rescue was upon them.
Shan with her companions, eventually stormed the fortresses, bringing down the opponents that lay within. Castrum Medicanus and its other Garlean installations were brought down by her and her hardy friends. It was a hard fight and when she escaped with the others, one of the original Warriors of Light, the unnamed Warrior, brought down the Ascian Lahabrea and reclaimed their friend who had been taken over by his dark power. The celebration in Mor Dhona proclaimed Shan and her friends Warriors of Light, a title Shan was ashamed to take because of her past failures. But with the Primal Bahamut awoken again, time was not at their side.
With the Binding Coil awoken, Shan braved some of its depths, not all of it as others took her place when she became exhausted. It was here that she discovered that Bahamut still lived, and his head was imprisoned within the Binding Coil's first depths. It seemed that the previous civilization that was around during the Third Astral Era, had prepared for such a situation. She joined the expedition into the Crystal Tower, a battle more her style with its organized teams as the Crystal Tower had fallen from the Moon, and served to be wrought with secrets. Lead by Cid, Cid sought to learn the secrets of the Crystal Tower, much like many of his other archeologists. She met Hotarubi Isai, a dear friend who she soon became close to and shared some of her secrets with when they met during a drink at Ul'dah. While Rubi was initially cool to her, Shan persisted and her warm friendliness soon broke the ice. Together the pair run dungeons and such together, and commented on the effectiveness of white magic, tanking classes. Shan envied Rubi's cool calm collected nature, and Rubi envied her ability to do everything. The pair came from both complex pasts and while Shan has yet to share her past, Rubi was found to be a former Garlean Spy, a ninja in service of the Garleans long ago before her team was wiped out during the events of Carteneau five years ago. Rubi had learned the way of the ninja from the Domans, a city-state that had been systematically annihilated for their defiance against the Garleans, and their people sought refuge in Mor Dhona, the Adventurers base at the center of Eorzea. It is here, that she has become a renowned Primal Slayer, despite her dislike for the title and encountered the Mogglesguard, a group of protectorate knights of moogles, who summoned a fictional super king of their people in order to try and prevent their destruction, fearful of the destruction of the warring beast tribes and the humans.
With the looming threat of Leviathan, the enormous sea serpent being awoken by the Sahaghin, a tribe of fish people who revere him as their god, and the soon awakening of Ramuh into action, Shan's battle is yet to be over. However, she prefers the simple side things to life, culinary skills as well as visiting Hildibrandt often. Hildibrandt is Eorzea's answer to a genius detective, and he, along with Nasseau his partner, were the premiere detectives of the age. Together, they solved the mystery of Hildibrandts "death" as well as fighting the giant of a man known as Gilgamesh over the possession of Hildibrandt's gunspear.
She has also two other major encounters. One with the mysterious woman named Lightning who came to Eorzea in the fall and it was here that she encountered the woman numerous times in the field while helping reporters investigate her sightings. Lightning rewarded Shan with a outfit much like her own, Shan even wore her hairstyle like Lightning's and wielded a Garlean-make Gunblade to boot for a while. She saw her friend off, knowing Lightning would probably never remember her, as she herself said that her God was testing her, and probably would erase her memory (See Final Fantasy XIII-3).
Another was the sighting of a massive golem in the shape of a Lalafell with beady eyes. A powerful witch was behind this, one that could cross the paper-thin barriers of Eorzea from her world into their own. The Black Mage Shantotto has a history with Eorzea, as she had not only sicced her World-destroying Golem on Eorzea, but she also was responsible for the creation of the Stardust Rod that Shan has in her things. It was said during the height of the Third Astral Era, Shantotto appeared, shared her knowledge with the Black Mages. And then was so bored, summoned a Meteor in the middle of the city, wrecking it. From there, thousands of Stardust Rods were created. This was 1000 years ago. Shan now possesses this golem like many others, in a small reduced form, with the warning that "in its current state it could only topple a nation."
Personality: Shan can be a contrast at times, smiling one moment, frowning the next. She puts up a professional air of stubbornness to match her performance in many jobs and skills she's obtained. Unable to focus on a single job for very long, Shan flits from one job to another, never really holding ground in a single profession or class for long.
She is nice however, friendly though she's got a self depreciative sense of humor. She doesn't tote her title of Warrior of Light around at all, preferring to be "the little guy", the side adventurers that people rarely speak about. However her name is fairly well known.
She is also a kleptomaniac and simply obsessed with glamours and pretty clothing. She loves to sew and cook and she loves everything there is about clothing and dancing. She lavishes attention on her favourite mounts, Chocoking II especially and her stuffed moogle who seems to have a mind of its own, speaking in moogle tongue.
She is a lover of moogles, she adores them so much. She is a good friend of Kuplo Kopp and loves to talk with her all the time. She can be warm and open sometimes, but becomes a living nightmare in fights. Swapping effortlessly between jobs due to the use of soul crystals, Shan's selection of 9 soul crystals makes her a absolute terror in battle. Her battle style is more like a heavy duty breakdancer, as she moves like lightning in the field, surpassing many people in speed and skill, but never bragging about it. She hates raising her weapon but when she does, look out.
She loves a good story, and purrs when people ruffle her ears. She's a fashionista to the core and loves everything about clothing and is a glorious clothes hog.
Strengths: As a Jack of All Trades fighter, Shan swaps in between jobs on the fly. Like many of her fellow adventurers, she is blessed with the Echo, an ability to see into the past, future, and be immune to mind control. Her unique blend of combat has made her a valuable member of many teams. While having access to 9 separate Jobs based on 8 different Classes, Shan would prefer it if she stuck to 3 combat types: Scholar a healing class, Warrior a strong axe-wielding tank and Monk. She tends to blend attacks from other classes into it, such as utilizing a Black Mage Flare in with her Monk attacks or summoning a Primal-Eigi to support her in battle during Warrior tanking.
Primal-Eigi is the distilled essence of a Primal, a summoned "god" of the beast tribes. She is able to distil these essences into a summoned form, completely obedient to her much like Zetta's minions. They are currently as follows:
Ifrit: The essence of the fiery hellbeast of the Amaalji who summon the god to temper his followers. It is a melee dps with a strong combat skill and ability.
Titan: The defender of the three. Titan shields its summoner from harm, and draws aggro towards it.
Garuda: This bird-like opponent attacks from afar, and causes contagion, which lengthen the amount of time a damage over time spell is utilized.
In addition she has various fist attacks, axe swings, shockwaves, Fire 1 to 3, Blizzard 1 to 3, Cure 1 to 3, and a few shield healing spells as well as non-elemental abilities such as Ruin and Miasma and Bio.
She possesses powers from all 9 jobs, but only uses a select few depending on the situation. More often than not, she will be sticking to a couple of classes for the sake of balance. Typically a FF14 character cross-classes no more than 5 abilities.
Finally when in a party, she can connect to her friends via the Crystals, and perform a Limit Break. The one who initiates it, plus the job determines the Limit Break.
Tank: Defensive Limit Break
Magic DPS: AOE Limit Break
Melee: Single Target Strong Limit Break
Bard/Healer: Healing Limit Break
She is also able to sew, and sew well. As well as cook. She has become a renowned culinarian and weaver in her time, and carries her equipment wherever she goes in order to form food and cloth and weave things. She also has skill in several other crafting classes including blacksmithing, armor making, leatherworking, alchemy, leatherworking, as well as the skill to identify plants and gather minerals with mining and botany. Just don't ask her to fish, she's rubbish at that. She is multitalented when she puts her mind to it, and is a all around general cook and weaver, and loves to make things for people, as well as compress materia.
Materia Assimilation is one of her key skills, which is a crafting skill. When an item is worn and used by someone for a extended period of time, we call this process soulbinding; to infuse the item with your own skills, and strengths. Materia is the crystallized form of this and is created by applying magical pressure to the item and condensing it into small gemstones which can be socketed into armor to add to your skill. This ability was learned from the Materia Master Mutamix, who stole it from the Goblin Illuminati and has been widespread across Eorzea for years now. Weapons, armor, and as well as every day clothing can be transformed into materia and boost your own skill. For the sake of balance and the in-game rules, Materia would only be assigned to the owner of the materia, as it is their own skills they are utilizing, and their own compressed experience to bolster their own ability. For example, if Twilight were to allow Shan to compress one of her books, she could socket another newer book and learn a little faster than it usually takes. Also the soulbinding speed would go up too, and both book and materia could be compressed into a new materia, etc etc. Materia range from lv 1 to 5. Note that the owner of the item is the only one who can use this materia, to advance their learning or weapon skills or crafting for the sake of gameplay in MLJ.
The Echo: A ability that prevents mind control, as well as seeing into the future and the past. While not every person has this power, it is a mysterious power which can be reduced in strength, or just not be relied on at all. For the sake of balance, she will be only able to see up to two days in either direction. And only for a duration of 333 seconds.
Weaknesses: Without her soul crystals, she is reduced to the base jobs, and her equipment sets are not accessible on the fly. Also, she has a weakness for chocolate. You can also get her to do anything for chocolate. As long as it's not immoral or illegal. She is also a massive justice freak at times, and will jump in if something wrong is happening.
She also possesses low mana during her combat melee jobs, and low defence when she is equipped with a magic job. In all, she is a high tier fighter, but only when compared to the scale of a Kamen Rider. However, her experience makes her valuable in many situations, wielding axe, shield, sword, bow, book, staff and magic.
Without her soul crystals, she is nearly useless. They can be torn from her grip at any time, which to this end she keeps in a pouch to her side. ALSO people can equip these of their own, and gain her own power and experiences which lay within the gemstones until she wrests them from them. A soul crystal is the memories of her own skills and power, imbued into the items that come with it.
To take her crystals is like taking a piece of Shan herself, as her own memories are imbued within the crystals that lay in her possession.
Shan is a kleptomaniac, and she has stolen things in the past which she sheepishly pays for, thus the lack of gil she has all the time. She developed this habit of looting everything during the stint she had five years ago as a penniless adventurer, and never quite stopped taking things. She will profusely apologize, but has taken some things such as wallets and fruit. Little things, specifically shaded blue or red or gold. The worst of it was when she took a friend's soul gem, and equipped it, only to find that she couldn't handle being a thief for very long. She handed it back, well before the thieves guild was formed and hasn't touched it since. She refuses to steal openly, but sometimes items find their way into her hands. This is compounded by the fact that she has such NICE friends who forgive her often, and tell her not to take things and make sure to always doublecheck her bags just to make sure she didn't take something new.
Possessions: Job Soul Crystals and pouch, Roulette Mount Whistle, Roulette Minion Whistle, Culinarian Equipment (outfit and frying pan and cooking knife), A set of Six Crystals of Light.
Pony/Animal Type: Cat
Cutie Mark: None

SAMPLES
First Person: So this is a linkpearl, right? Well something close to it at least.
Where to begin? Well, I'm a Adventurer from Eorzea. Or rather I came to Eorzea. I'm a jack of all trades, having learned skills from different classes and jobs. I'm trying to find some place to spend time in, maybe culinary jobs too, or maybe put my White Mage or Scholar skills to work with the medical field.
As it stands, I'm trying to figure out where I stand here. Oh, and if I can plant these gyshal green seeds somewhere. Chocoking II needs his food.
And that's another thing. Chocoking comes and goes, so please treat him kindly. I know he kind of looks like a giant chicken or duck, but he's not edible. Or at least I doubt Chocobos are at least. They're like, well, ponies to us. Or horses. Or rather would be similar to horses but I'm rambling.
In any case, thanks for the place to live. As a note, is there a place to repair armor and hire retainers here? I mean, this is clearly a place with Levequests.
Thanks in advance!
Third Person: Shan crept through the underbrush of the Everfree Forest. A evil forest, or at least a "wild" one and it was full of magic? Prime place for ADVENTURE.
"Okay, this place is pretty intense so keep on your toes," muttered the cat as she listened for anything coming her way. Frowning, she peered around a rock and blinked at the huge manticore sleeping there. "... maybe if I kill it, it'll have loot... but..."
Checking her hunting log, she shook her head before turning around and blinking at the huge walking pile of wood who snarled at her from two inches away. "Hi." She said.
Seconds later, the Timberwolf lunged and would have clamped around the cat if she hadn't unsheathed her Tidal Wave Axe and burst into an aura of fury. Swinging the tiny axe around, the air whistled of gleaming steel as it yelped and backed away. She roared at it, eyes flaming red as she charged at it, axe held high.
Leaping up into the air, she hurled a bladed Tomahawk at it, and the Timberwolf yelped as she landed on top of its back. "Heave ho!" She yelled, smacking it several times.
The Timberwolf danced and yelped as it tried to shake the Warrior off and she went flying into a tree, only to land in a spray of leaves against the bark.
Shan snarled as she blazed with an X-formation energy, and she charged at it. Blow after blow she landed, and parried its strong swipes before the tiny kitty leaped into the air. "O searing blaze, come to my aid!"
Grabbing the air, she pulled and threw it at the opponent. It paused for a moment, and seconds later, the Timberwolf erupted as a Flare tore it apart. Landing, she breathed heavily before picking up a log. "Huh, Elm Logs. Score."
Placing the logs into her bottomless bag, she started back for home.
